“This offer came out of the blue and it’s one my wife and I are keen to pursue,” Gallagher said.

“Whilst we will miss Gayndah and all it offers we are both looking forward.”

Gallagher said he had a great time in his role as club captain.

“I have enjoyed my time as captain and would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support and friendships I have made,” Gallagher said.

“I have at times been lucky enough to see eye to eye with many of you regarding issues surrounding golf and how it should be played.

“I am pleased to be leaving your club in a great state and sincerely wish the club all the success it deserves.”

Gallagher said he was aware the new development would disrupt the golf club in the short term but was confident for its future.

“I am sure someone will step up to the plate a take the Gayndah Golf Club to the next level,” Gallagher said.

Club member Michael Coulson wanted to thank Gallagher for everything he had done for the club and its members.

“As we all know no one is irreplaceable but I must be honest in saying you will hard shoes to fill,” Coulson said.

“Your time within our club has been filled with friendly banter and excitement of having someone to make the game interesting again.

“Like your predecessors as captains you have brought Gayndah Golf Club into the next chapter and it is now our chance to continue your great work.”

Coulson said Gallagher’s hard work, commitment and devotion to the Gayndah Golf Club had not gone unnoticed.

“We live on the fact this is not goodbye but see you later,” Coulson said.
