Sports carnival has something for all
CARNIVAL: A highlight of this Saturday’s 97th Dallarnil Sports carnival will be the farmers’ challenge with a $1000 cash prize on offer.
President Roz Buczma said this was made possible thanks to a donation by Ross and Elise McLean of Dallarnil.
So get your teams of four together and nominate.
Cost is $10 per person and teams must be a mix of male and female, and be over 18 or have parent/guardian consent.
Buczma said this annual event was not just about sporting competition.
“It’s also about the opportunity to catch up with people, socialise and enjoy a great day of entertainment,” she said.
“The program is a little different this year with no rodeo but instead a cutting competition late Saturday followed by team penning on Sunday.”
She said the day would not be possible without the support of local individuals and businesses.
The program gets under way at 9am and includes open horse events, children’s events, hacking, wood chopping, athletics, barrel racing, tug-o-war and jumping events.
There will be food stalls including bar and barbecue to cater for the expected crowd. There has been a great response from market stalls.
Don’t forget to check out the hall for the cooking and flower sections.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 concession and $2 school children. For further information phone Roz on 0418 625 021.
