Eidsvold Race Club re-signs committee

Central and North Burnett Times - - NEWS - — Philippe Coquerand

THE Eidsvold Race Club held its annual general meeting where members voted to keep the current committee, in an effort to ensure the upcoming races were a success.

The treasurer Audrey Doyle, secretary Lori Murray and president Lyle Murray all retained their roles for the 2017-2018 year and were optimistic the February 17 races would be better than ever.

Mr Murray said the committee had concerns earlier this year regarding how dry the field was but said the club did well all the same.

“Whilst there were concerns leading up to the race day about the hot weather, the day was extremely well supported by the public and sponsors, all of whom enjoyed a great day of country racing,” he said.

Mr Murray said the club had several upgrades planned for next year.

“Next year will be different with a couple of projects in the pipeline, the construction of a new horse hose-down area and construction of a roof between the bar and grandstand,” he said.

“The extra shade between the bar and grandstand will free up a couple of marquees to be used as other areas.”

The club had a profit of $6158 for last year’s financial year.

The Eidsvold races will take place next year on February 17. Keep an eye on centralnorth burnetttimes.com.au for details about the event as they emerge.
