MORE rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit the Wide Bay Burnett region in the coming days with an upper trough set to impact the western part of the state by the weekend.

Bureau of Metereology metereologist Richard Wardle said the forecast for the coming days was for rainfall and thunderstorms.

“Thursday will be a cloudy day with a medium chance of showers in the morning and late afternoon with a thunderstorm developing,” Mr Wardle said.

“Friday will be partly cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm and rain.”

Mr Wardle said there was a strong chance this weekend would be wet.

“It’s going to be wet with a high chance of showers and thunderstorms developing,” he said.

“We’re well and truly in storm season and we had a storm on Tuesday night that crossed the Wide Bay and we expect the activity to keep up within the next few weeks.”

The Bureau of Metereology released the tropical cyclone outlook on Monday.

“We usually get around four cyclones in the Coral Sea and one of those cyclones will cross the coast,” Mr Wardle said.

Over the past week good rainfalls have been recorded in the region and Mr Wardle believes it will continue.

“Intense rain is quite common so it’s not out of the question that we will experience huge rainfall,” he said.
