Gayndah going the distance for cross-country
CROSS COUNTRY: Gayndah students competed in both inter-house and district cross-country last Monday to qualify for the North Burnett trials in Biggenden on April 26.
Held at Gayndah Golf Course, the events were combined so the children from Gayndah State School and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School could run just the one race.
Gayndah State School’s Leah Trott said all age groups from seven to 12 years had a great time.
“The golf course is a great venue for cross-country as it has all the elements of hills and flat ground,” she said.
Distances for the cross-country races ranged from 400m to 3km.
“The course boundary is a good two kilometres with an extra half lap adding the further kilometre for older age groups,” Mrs Trott said. 2013 (5 years) – 200m Boys: 1st Hudson Thompson (StJ), 2nd Samuel Marshall (GSS), 3rd Dirum Bonner
