Easter bonus for Monto winner
HAVING owned and operated the Monto Foodworks with her husband for many years, Glenda Woodall knows first hand how important it is to support local business.
Despite selling the business in 2006, Mrs Woodall visits regularly to do her groceries and was thrilled to hear her weekly shopping had helped her win the Monto Shop Local draw.
She took home more than $600 in prizes thanks to the generosity of the 12 participating local businesses.
Each business donated a $50 gift voucher and Monto Auto & Towing offered a complimentary vehicle service. Shop owners were pleased with the community’s response.
There were more than 2000 entries during the month-long competition – a minimum of $30,000 spent at Monto’s small businesses.
Mrs Woodall was delighted to receive the news and said the late Easter present was a welcome bonus.
“I didn’t for one second think I would win, it’s not very often you win something like this,” she said.
“I know how much it means to support local businesses, it’s a struggle for everybody.
“Monto needs all the support it can get, shopping local is very important.”
