BIGGENDEN SALE REPORT BURNETT Livestock and Realty’s meatworks and store sale on Monday, April 9, saw a yarding of 1340 head at Biggenden.
Heavy bulls topped at 274c/kg; bullocks topped at 276c/kg; cows over 500kg topped at 255c/kg; cows 400–500kg topped at 242c/kg; and trade heifers over 400kg topped at 277c/kg.
Feeder steers 400–500kg sold to a top of 280c, while steers 300–400kg sold to 328c. Steers 200–300kg sold to 368c. Heifers 300–400kg sold for 286c and heifers 200–300kg sold to 280c. Cattle were drawn from Theodore, Moura, Scotchy Pocket, Rockhampton, Rosedale, Mundubbera, Gin Gin, Gayndah, Wondai, Tansey, Maryborough, Murgon, Bundaberg and all local areas. Grey brahman cows from Mundubbera sold to a top of 255c/$1398. Brangus cows from Mundubbera sold for 245c/$1653. Charbray cross cows from Gin Gin sold to a top of 238c/$1822. Grey brahman cross cows from Gayndah sold for 232c/$1378. Crossbred cows from Mt Perry sold for 231c/$1323. Droughtmaster two-tooth steers from Theodore sold for 279c/$1203. MURGON SALE REPORT MURGON agents yarded just under 1000 for the liveweight sale Tuesday.
The market was easier throughout with the exception of heavier export cattle which remained fairly firm. Heavy bulls sold to 262c/kg and $2330. Bullocks topped at 277c/kg for $1800.
Cows over 500kg sold to 235c/kg and $1470., averaging 221c/kg.
Cows 400–500kg averaged 205c/kg topping at $1050. Lighter cows under 400kg sold to 195c/kg.
The Ward Family Crownthorpe sold charolais cross steers for 300c/kg to return $1695. Two pens of charbray steers a/c K Cummings Coringa sold for $1230 at 285c/kg and $983 at 290c/kg (338kg).
W & K Sippel Redgate sold red angus steers weighing 472kg for $1340 at 285c/kg. Two pens of angus cross steers from Manumbar sold for $1320 (282c/kg, 468kg) and $1220 (282c/kg, 432kg). Charolais cross steers from K Grimes Proston sold for $1070 at 287c/kg (373kg). Armitage Family Trust sold two pens of santa weaner steers for $776 at 335c/kg and $763 at 308c/kg. Local charbray heifers sold to $1110 at 258c/kg. Santa cross heifers from Proston sold for $890 at 269c/kg. Weaner heifers topped at 278c/kg and $771, with most selling in the 255–265c/kg bracket.
The Steinhardt family Hivesville sold droughtmaster cross weaner heifers for 268c/kg returning $771. The next Murgon sale will be held on Tuesday, April 24 at 8am.
