IN TERM 3, Biggen­den Friends of Red Cross, en­joyed a visit to the Post Of­fice and li­brary fol­lowed by a pic­nic in the park.

School chap­lain Moira Thomp­son said there had been a mix of themes dur­ing the term, from mix­ing and bak­ing cook­ies for Fa­ther’s Day, mak­ing bub­ble and squeak, learn­ing how to tie ban­dages and slings to the the im­por­tance of 000 and know­ing your home ad­dress and un­der­stand­ing emo­tions.

“The as­sis­tance of the four lovely women make the task of giv­ing the chil­dren mean­ing­ful ex­pe­ri­ences so much eas­ier,” she said.

Biggen­den Friends of Red Cross has sparked in­ter­est at head of­fice of Aus­tralian Red Cross in Bris­bane.

Mrs Thomp­son said head of­fice was look­ing at the model they used to run the af­ter-school pro­gram.

“Bris­bane of­fice is shar­ing what we do, as other towns are keen to start some­thing sim­i­lar,” she said.
