Children learning life skills
IN TERM 3, Biggenden Friends of Red Cross, enjoyed a visit to the Post Office and library followed by a picnic in the park.
School chaplain Moira Thompson said there had been a mix of themes during the term, from mixing and baking cookies for Father’s Day, making bubble and squeak, learning how to tie bandages and slings to the the importance of 000 and knowing your home address and understanding emotions.
“The assistance of the four lovely women make the task of giving the children meaningful experiences so much easier,” she said.
Biggenden Friends of Red Cross has sparked interest at head office of Australian Red Cross in Brisbane.
Mrs Thompson said head office was looking at the model they used to run the after-school program.
“Brisbane office is sharing what we do, as other towns are keen to start something similar,” she said.
