Working dogs on the agenda

Central and North Rural Weekly - - NEWS -

NEIL McDonald is running his popular Working Dog and Livestock Handling Workshop in Balberra soon.

Juliane Kasiske, Landcare facilitator for the Mackay Whitsunday Isaac region, is supporting the workshop to teach Central Queensland graziers to be proactive in soil health and pasture management.

Mr McDonald’s schools will teach working safely and efficiently with the help of working dogs.

Graziers interested in attending the three-day workshop from September 28 to 30 are encouraged to bring their dogs and swags.

Grazier Rhys Daniels from Theresa Downs, Capella, said: “When I started down this path eight years ago, I wouldn’t suggest we had a problem with livestock before.

“The changes we made from what we learnt have made handling livestock far simpler, easier, safer, better for the animals, and more profitable,” Mr Daniels said.

Reef Catchments is offering a $200 discount to the first 15 participants.

There will also be a free networking barbecue dinner on the Friday night.

To book, contact Juliane Kasiske on 0488 730 021.
