Give back to RFDS by buying a pineapple
AUSTRALIA’S largest pineapple producer Piñata Farms has partnered with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Woolworths to host a pineapple fundraising promotion in aid of the RFDS during October.
Piñata Farms will donate 10 cents to the RFDS for every Piñata pineapple sold at 244 Woolworths stores in Queensland and northern New South Wales between October 11 and 31.
Piñata Farms managing director, Gavin Scurr, a long-term supporter of the RFDS, said he hoped the campaign would raise more than $13,000 for the service’s Queensland division.
“The RFDS provides 24-hour emergency health care for remote and regional Australians and any one of us could need it at any time. On average, the RFDS assists one person every two minutes,” Mr Scurr said.
“Buying a pineapple during the campaign period in October is a simple way to show support.”
Piñata Farms is an avid supporter of the RFDS, having raised more than $60,000 through Gavin and brother Stephen Scurr’s participation in the annual Outback Car Trek during the past four years.
Piñata Farms has 370 hectares of pineapples under cultivation in Queensland and in the Northern Territory.
