WHEN the gates opened at the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Monster Energy PBR Mackay Invitational last Saturday night, everyone could sense a good vibe.

The new purpose-built PBRA stadium was the perfect setting for a great night of bull riding.

Local cowboy Ryan Storey made his presence felt in round one with an 86.5-point ride on Dunne Bucking bull Jackie Who.

Returning from injury, Atherton’s Kurt Shephard was next with a score of 83.5 on Kleier’s Road Rage just in front of two cowboys on 82.5, George Chong and Budd Williamson.

In round two only three cowboys managed to make the whistle – Budd Williamson marked an 83 on Sick N Twisted, ahead of Cody Heffernan with 82.5 and Nebo’s Mitch Paton.

The top seven riders made it back to the championship round, but victory belonged to Storey ahead of Paton and Williamson.

GOOD FORM: North Queensland bull rider Budd Williamson was happy with how he performed at Saturday night’s PBR in Mackay.

Kurt Shephard holds on during the PBR Mackay Invitational at Queens Park.

George Chong gives it his best shot.

Aaron Kleier hangs on to his ride.
