$1 mine quickly pick­ing up pace

TER­RACOM has cel­e­brated the rede­vel­op­ment of the Blair Athol Coal Mine as more than 124,000 tonnes of coal was mined be­tween Au­gust 13 and Septem­ber 30.

The min­ing com­pany bought Blair Athol for just $1 and was given the rights to the mine in May.

Ac­cord­ing to Ter­raCom’s fi­nan­cial re­sults re­leased Mon­day, the first coal was mined on Au­gust 13, the first prod­uct coal crushed on Au­gust 25, first dragline swing on Au­gust 26, and in that month it also sent out its first in­voice for coal.

“The coal han­dling and prepa­ra­tion plant on-site has been recom­mis­sioned and is sched­uled to com­mence coal pro­cess­ing (this week).”

The com­pany said Xenith Con­sult­ing had up­graded the to­tal mine re­serves to 15.6mt, an in­crease of 2.1mt.
