Gateway to business expansion
LONG-TERM BUS SERVICE PAVING THE WAY TO SUCCESS AFTER MILESTONE MOVE TO NEW PRECINCT
YOUNG’S Bus Service officially opened its new depot this week after moving the entire transport operation to become the newest addition to Livingstone Shire Council’s state-of-the-art Gateway Business and Industry Precinct.
A six-stage, master-planned development, The Gateway will be used for commercial purposes and is an initiative that will continually prove itself, with a variety of new businesses planning to move there in the next few years.
Located five minutes from the Yeppoon CBD, it is ideal for attracting businesses in the shire and further afield, promoting the importance of local economic growth, private investment and creating jobs in the region.
Owner of long-time Capricorn Coast family business Phil Young said he looked forward to operating from The Gateway, marking the start of a new era for the business.
“Young’s buses has been family owned and operated for 68 years, so making a move like this into a new location is a once-in-alifetime opportunity and will be beneficial as our business grows,” Mr Young said.
“We are expanding our operations through central Queensland and beyond, and this provides us with a greater, more convenient access point to both Rockhampton and Yeppoon. It just made sense to invest in this prime location while the opportunity was available.
“I would also like to thank the local architects, Chris Irwin and his team (Thomson Adsett Architects), for the design and Gary Jefferys and his team (GT Jefferys Building Contractors) for the construction of this fantastic new facility.”
Mayor Bill Ludwig said the successful, effortless relocation of a locally-owned business within the shire was a fantastic achievement.
“It’s also encouraging to see Young’s Bus Service making use of a new cost-effective, environmentally-friendly building material, which sets a great precedent for other businesses.
“The Gateway Business and Industry Precinct will be progressively delivered over the next 10 to 15 years and in time will become one of the largest developments in central Queensland solely dedicated to commercial business,” Cr Ludwig said.
