Wel­come rain calls for re­duced yard­ing

GRACE­MERE

DUE to the wel­comed rain­fall over the past few days the com­bined agents had a small yard­ing of 840 head on Fri­day com­pris­ing of 464 steers, 304 heifers, 56 Cows, 5X5 Cows and Calves and 22 Bulls

The cat­tle were drawn from Mun­dub­bera through to Collinsville and al­though mixed, there was gen­er­ally good qual­ity on of­fer.

The mar­ket for slaugh­ter cat­tle re­mained fully firm to dearer, while re-stocker and feeder cat­tle lifted for the qual­ity on of­fer.

Steers to slaugh­ter topped 269.2 c/kg to av­er­age 252.8 c/kg while steers 400 to 500kg topped 287.2 c/kg to av­er­age 255.1 c/kg.

Steers 300 to 400kg topped 287.2 c/kg to av­er­age 252.4 c/kg while steers 200 to 300kg topped 360.2 c/kg to av­er­age 325.7 c/kg.

Steers un­der 200kg topped 378.2 c/kg to av­er­age 353.5 c/kg.

Cows to slaugh­ter topped 213.2 c/kg to av­er­age 208.7 c/kg while cows 400 to 450kg topped 200.0 c/kg to av­er­age 177.5c/kg.

Cows 320 to 400kg topped 182.2c/kg to av­er­age 163.6c/kg.

Heavy heifers topped 236.2 c/kg to av­er­age 235.2c/kg while heifers 300 to 400kg topped 274.2 c/kg to av­er­age 253.3c/kg.

Heifers 200 to 300kg topped 286.2 c/kg to av­er­age 257.7 c/kg while heifers un­der 200kg topped 290.2 c/kg to av­er­age 276.2 c/kg.

Cows and calves topped $980 per unit to av­er­age $856 per unit.

Bulls over 600kg topped 269.2c/kg to av­er­age 256.4c/kg while bulls 450kg to 600kg topped 246.2c/kg to av­er­age 230.1c/kg.

Bulls un­der 450kg topped 300.0 c/kg to av­er­age 269.3 c/kg.

HIGH­LIGHTS

Boon­gana Pty Ltd, Dingo – Sold Braford weaner steers for 350c/kg weigh­ing 248kg re­turn­ing $870 p/head.

MJ & SM McEvoy, Eun­gella – Sold Bran­gus weaner heifers top­ping at 280c/kg weigh­ing 233kg to re­turn $641 p/head. Their steers sold for 348c/kg weigh­ing 292kg to re­turn $1015. D& S Flohr, Wowan – Sold Bran­gus bul­locks to av­er­age 262c/kg weigh­ing 585kg to re­turn at $1530 p/head.

Aileen Hob­son, Ba­nana – Sold Shorthorn cross steers to 378c/kg weigh­ing 185kg to re­turn $701 p/head. The same heifers made 288c/kg weigh­ing 184kg to $531 p/head.

Mon­trose Graz­ing Co, Marl­bor­ough – Sold EU Ac­cred­ited Brah­man Weaner steers for 260c/kg weigh­ing 247kg to re­turn $891 p/head.

D& W Le­hfeldt, Kalapa – Sold No.6 Drought­mas­ter heifers for 267c/kg weigh­ing 397kg re­turn­ing $1062 p/head.

EMER­ALD

LAST weeks Emer­ald Sale saw 802 head yarded plus cow’s & calves.

All of the usual meat­works buy­ers were in at­ten­dance as well as quite a few lo­cal re­stock­ers.

Lighter steers topped at 309c/kg which was less -11c on last sale.

Steers 200-280kgs av­er­aged 310c/kg which was up +3c on last sale top­ping at 336.2c/kg.

A good line of feeder steers 400-500kgs saw prices av­er­age 249c/kg up +13c on av­er­age of last week’s sale.

Lighter heifers down -25c top­ping at 269c, heifer’s 280-350kgs top­ping at 279c and av­er­ag­ing 251c up +13 on last sale.

Heavy heifers over 400kgs topped 234c/kg up +3c.

Cows were down across all cat­e­gories to­day see­ing lighter cow’s top at 190c/kg and cows 450-520kgs av­er­aged 180c top­ping at 206c/kg.

Cows over 520kgs av­er­aged 201c less -7c.

Bulls 450-600kgs this week topped at 227c and heavy bulls over 600kgs av­er­ag­ing 224c top­ping at 248c and sit­ting firm after last week.

A pen of 7X7 cows and calves sold for $1200.

HIGH­LIGHTS

W.T & T.M Shaw, Bil­l­abong Plains Comet, sold Charo­lais X & Euro X Steers for 328.2c/kg weigh­ing an av­er­age 250kgs and mak­ing a re­turn of $820 per head.

CHAR­TERS TOW­ERS

CHAR­TERS Tow­ers Com­bined Agents yarded a total of 1602 head last week.

Cat­tle con­sist­ing of 506 prime cat­tle and 1096 store cat­tle.

The prime cat­tle con­sisted of 195 bul­locks, 24 heifers, 237 cows and 50 bulls.

Store cat­tle con­sisted of 711 steers, 385 heifers, 0 cows and 4 cows & calves.

Cat­tle com­prised of good lines of mixed bul­locks and cows, with strong com­pe­ti­tion from meat­works and ex­porters.

The yard­ing was drawn from as far West as Mt. Isa and as North as Cape York, as well as lo­cal and coastal sur­round­ing ar­eas such as Ge­orge­town, Green­vale and Hugh­en­den.

Bul­locks were quoted as 2-4c dearer, heifers were 4c eas­ier and cows were 10-15c dearer, on last week’s rates.

Store cat­tle were made of some good num­bers and lines from the North & West, that met with strong com­pe­ti­tion from both back­grounders and ex­porters, as well as re­stock­ers.

HIGH­LIGHTS

Bul­locks sold for 265.2/kg on a/c Pe­dracini Graz­ing that weighed 574kg to re­turn $1,524 per head.

Best priced Trade Heifers were pre­sented on a/c WH & MA Bo­jack which made 244.0¢/kg to weigh 410kg and re­turn $1,001 per head.

The top pen of Cows were sold by LD Knuth & Co for 210.2¢/kg and weighed 518kg to re­turn $1,088 per head.

Bulls sold on a/c David Jack­son & Sons topped at 244¢/kg and weighed 715kg to re­turn $1,746 per head.

A line of 27 Steers a/c Doo­nan Cat­tle Co av­er­aged 352¢/kg and av­er­age weight 196kg and re­alised $691 per head.

A line of 192 Red Brah­man Steers a/c Morr Morr Pas­toral Co weighed 266.7kg & sold for 322.9¢/kg to re­turn $862 per head.

ROMA

A total of 3,171 head of cat­tle were con­signed at Roma’s Store Sale on Tues­day.

Weaner steers un­der 220kg topped at 392c/kg and av­er­aged 362c/kg.

Weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 382c/kg and av­er­aged 345c/kg.

Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 382c/kg and av­er­aged 301c/kg, and steers in the 350 to 400kg range reached 314c/kg and av­er­aged 288c/kg.

Feeder steers in the 400 to 550kg range topped at 298c/kg and av­er­aged 282c/kg.

Heifers un­der 220kg topped at 324c/kg and av­er­aged 288c/kg, while heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 310c/kg and av­er­aged 269c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 315c/kg, av­er­ag­ing 284c/kg.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range topped at 294c/kg, av­er­ag­ing 267c/kg.

C A War­rian - LM Roma -Ro­ma­sold Charo­lais crosssteers for 294c/kg at 435kg re­turn­ing $1,282/head.

MR & HM Beitz -’Mossview Lodge’ -Ro­ma­sold Charo­lais cross steers for 290c/kg at 412kg re­turn­ing $1,197/head.
