Preparing for this storm season

Central Queensland News - - NEWS -

LAST weekend saw the beginning of this year’s storm season.

Co-ordinator of Emergency Services at Central Highlands Regional Council, Glenn Bell said last weekend’s wild weather was a reminder of what was possible this storm season.

“Our message for residents is to prepare now so that you’re ready when a severe storm strikes,” Mr Bell said.

“It’s as simple as making a basic plan for pets, neighbours, your house and for if your family gets separated.

“There are some great resources to help with this on the Get Ready Queensland website at getready.qld.gov.au.”

Mr Bell reminded residents that, during a storm, it was best to stay indoors or undercover and away from windows, trees and power lines.

“We host an Emergency Management Dashboard that has all the information you need for when wild weather strikes,” he said.

“It can be found at beprepared.chrc.qld.gov.au or via the link on council’s website homepage.”
