Students work on creativity
Gindie students end term on a great note
THIS term our arts curriculum was focused on the strand of dance.
Our school was fortunate enough to engage with Footsteps Dance Company, which provided our students with an engaging workshop with a full action-packed day, learning three dances and learning to choreograph dance routines with their peers.
Students at Gindie had a fantastic day with instructor Jessica.
They were assessed on their performances and participation in the program.
THIS term we hosted our pre-prep students (for 2018) every Tuesday.
Students worked in the junior classroom for two hours each week, to learn some of the routines involved with coming to school.
The students engaged in a variety of arts, early literacy and mathematics and movement activities.
Next year we welcome three prep students – Evie, Hayden and Will – all Gindie locals.
Sport academy visits
GINDIE was fortunate last week to receive a visit from Commonwealth Games athlete Jaz Hedgeland.
Jaz, a triathlete, was sent to visit us as a part of the QAS4Schools program which promotes healthy eating and lifestyle habits, the benefits of physical activity and raises interest in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
This was a fantastic opportunity for students to discuss the elements involved in Jaz’s sport, as well as what it means to represent our country.
Students engaged well with this visit and enjoyed hosting Jaz.
LAST week students from Springsure, Orion, Lochington, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Rolleston and Gindie all participated in our district swimming carnival.
The event, hosted by Springsure State School, was full of fun and participation from all involved.
Gindie students were accompanied by their parents.
All students lining up to race down the pool and winning points for our schools competition.
Gindie students demonstrated great sportsmanship on the day and a fantastic day was had by all.
