Funds are raised in memory of friend
Peter Wishart’s memory honoured
THE Royal Flying Doctor Service benefited greatly on Friday night, with thousands of dollars raised in the annual pool competition dedicated to the memory of local farmer Peter Wishart.
The pub was packed with visitors from Rockhampton and from the Biloela State High School.
Goovigen honoured their friend’s memory and gave generously to this, the worthiest of causes, with a total nearing $3000 raised.
Raffles and an auction were a big part of the fundraising, with Rona Price donating a pool cue to the pool competition participants, and Di Hume making the winning bid for the Goovigen State School painting.
Joy Wishart thanked everyone for coming out for the night and especially the Goovigen Hotel, the Peacock Family and the Goovigen State School.
As usual, the pool competition continued into the wee hours of Saturday morning. Another fantastic evening at the Goovigen Hotel.
ON Saturday afternoon Val Clem and Mavis Carter invited visiting bowlers Rob and Heather McCullough out to Wowan to be a part of the Goovigen team in just their second visit in a year.
So very close, the team missed out on a win by one point.
Better luck next time.
From the ‘G’ this week

The students learned about geometric and modernist, cubist styles.
