Golfers jour­ney far and wide for Monto car­ni­val

GOLF: The long drive did not de­ter more than 60 vis­it­ing play­ers who trav­elled to Monto for the an­nual Vet­er­ans’ Golf car­ni­val.

Play­ers from Moura, Biloela, In­june, Cal­liope, Tan­num Sands, Gladstone, Gin Gin, Mun­dub­bera and Miri­amvale played for tro­phies do­nated by Tay­lor­maid Quilts, Monto Vets, Craig Swift Bund­aberg and East End Ho­tel.

Monto trea­surer Shane Tay­lor said it was great to get so much sup­port.

“This is our big­gest day of the year in terms of most play­ers in any one day.

“These peo­ple come a long way – for a big club to come and help us, it’s great.”

The home play­ers im­pressed in the ladies’ tour­na­ment.

A-grade and B-grade were won by He­len Irvine and Noela Wilkes of Monto re­spec­tively, though the over­all win­ner was Denise Bus­teed from Gladstone.
