BATTLERS DOWN IN FINAL
THE Taroom Wandoan Battlers came close to taking out the 2017 Lindsay Williams Shield, but in the end it was the Jandowae Fishhooks who walked away with the top honours.
The annual Lindsay Williams Shield was played in Wandoan on Saturday, and the Battlers won a nail-biter against the Tara Panthers to send them into the grand final.
Brendan Dan kicked a penalty goal right on the full time siren to win the game 16-14 for the Battlers. The Battlers tries were scored by Brendan Dan, Lachie Menzies and Graeme Nowell. Jandowae won the final against the Battlers 16 nil, however the Battlers certainly made them work for their points. Battlers captain Brian Argus congratulated Jandowae on a well-played game, and said thanks had to go to the sponsors and volunteers who make the Lindsay Williams Shield possibly each and every year.
The Taroom Wandoan Battlers will now host the Terry Charles Memorial in Taroom on April 1. The other teams that will contest the Terry Charles Memorial include the Miles Devils, the Tara Panthers and the Chinchilla Bulldogs.
