THE 84th Wowan Show will be held at the Wowan show­grounds to­mor­row.

Sched­ule of events can be down­loaded from the QCAS web­site or the Wowan Show Face­book page.

The Wowan Show committee has a band of mem­bers and vol­un­teers to bring you an en­joy­able good old coun­try show.

The committee ac­knowl­edges the won­der­ful sup­port from spon­sors, ex­hibitors and the com­mu­nity and ex­tend a warm wel­come to the peo­ple of Cen­tral Queens­land.

Pav­il­ion judg­ing gets un­der way to­day. The committee wel­comes en­tries in all the pav­il­ion sec­tions and would love to see the pav­il­ions full with an ar­ray of ex­hibits.

The pav­il­ion sec­tions in­clude needle­work, home cook­ing, arts and craft, pho­tog­ra­phy, chil­dren’s sec­tions, flori­cul­ture, fruit, veg­eta­bles and farm pro­duce.

To­mor­row gates open early with the ring pro­gram in­clud­ing stockman’s chal­lenge from 9am, stud cat­tle judg­ing at 10am, poul­try judg­ing at 9am.

Rock­hamp­ton Re­gional Coun­cil­lor Neil Fisher will open this year’s show.

This year we have had a cou­ple of changes with en­ter­tain­ment through­out the day: Lo­cal Vo­cals Group from Biloela singing from 11am, Ty­rone the Cir­cus per­former per­forms through­out the day, Wood chop demon­stra­tions through­out the day – it’s be­ing 30 years since Wowan has seen wood chop­ping at the Wowan Show, BJ Horse­man­ship Trick Rid­ing and Lib­erty Demon­stra­tion, Fash­ion Pa­rade, Dog Jump­ing com­pe­ti­tion, Four Wheeler and mo­tor­bike, Deb and Tim from “Just Us” will en­ter­tain dur­ing the night.

Wowan al­ways have a spec­tac­u­lar Fire­works Dis­play to con­clude their show. Con­tact sec­re­tary Emily Reynolds 0429 934 483.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to lo­cal Brah­man stud cat­tle ex­hibitors Del and Narelle Chap­man.

Del and Narelle spent a cou­ple of days at the Ekka and were ex­cited to win three sec­ond plac­ings in the brah­man classes.

Well done to Bec Wil­son and her han­dlers for parad­ing the Chap­man’s family ex­hibits.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Girlie Goody of Monto for win­ning the pen of three heifers/steers at the Ekka car­case com­pe­ti­tion.

Girlie plays a ma­jor role in the Cal­lide Daw­son Beef Car­case Com­pe­ti­tion Committee and Girlie loves car­case com­pe­ti­tions.

We’ll have some more great news next week re­gard­ing more lo­cal win­ners at the Ekka.

Golf club

SHAI Pearce played some great golf on Sun­day to win the monthly medal with a 57 nett, run­nerup was DJ Vick­ers with a 64 nett.

DJ won the Monthly Putting medal with 23 putts and Shai was run­ner up with 25 putts. Shai also won the daily pin­shot.

Some mem­bers trav­elled to Grace­mere for their men’s open, we trust that they all had a great day of golf.

This Satur­day is the Duaringa Ladies Open and Sun­day is the men’s open, best of luck to all com­pet­ing.

The Frenchville So­cial golfers had a game of golf at Wowan on Sun­day. They con­grat­u­lated the Wowan Golf Club on the pre­sen­ta­tion of the course and they en­joyed their pie and vege lunch.


HAPPY birth­day wishes to Cody Matthews, Karl Young, Cobey Page, Kyleigh Clan­field, Dy­lan Hal­ber­stater, Robyn Litschner.

Cel­e­brat­ing wed­ding an­niver­saries are Arnold and Del Clan­field, Kyle and Cather­ine Brown.

I hear that a lo­cal gentleman turned 50, Happy birth­day Matt McCam­ley.


OUR deep­est sym­pa­thy wishes to the family of the late Glo­ria Keyes for­merly of Mt Mor­gan.

Mrs Keyes was a reg­u­lar vis­i­tor to the Wowan and Dululu dis­trict judg­ing the flow­ers sec­tions at the an­nual flower show and mother’s day.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family at this sad time.
