Goovigen locals take out Wowan show winnings
CONGRATULATIONS Shaun Cavanagh and Emily Authurs on qualifying for the Capricornia Athletics Team.
Emily will compete in the 400m and 800m. Shaun will compete in discus.
Both will be hoping to qualify for the Queensland Athletics Team. Well done and wishing you both every success.
MARY and Ken Lang have had success with their Clydesdales at the annual Wowan Show.
With 10 heavy horses paraded before the judge David Pitstock, Windama Clydesdale Stud, Goomeri.
Ken and Mary’s Brendallan Esther won the filly/mare class, Grand Shire Cooper owned by Scott Nicholas and Tyneille Madden won the gelding class.
The beautiful Esther went on to win Supreme Champion Heavy Horse of the Wowan Show with Grand Shire Cooper winning the Reserve Championship ribbon.
The working classes were such fun, the day belonged to Darren Cressard who won the purple ribbon.
DJ took Grand Shire Don into the riding classes however he was beaten by Jane Stephens on her Drum horse Lizzie.
The working classes were won by DJ, both DJ and Don are novices but managed to win the championship ribbon, congratulations DJ.
Nine-year-old Claire Farrow won the Junior Handlers Class leading Grand Shire Cooper, this was Claire’s first time in the show ring.
Lana Stewart has also had success at the Wowan Show coming in second place on Buffalo Soldier and a third placing on Janita Dolls Destiny in the Novice Challenge. Well done Lana.
Jessica Spoor received equal first in the open challenge, won the novice challenge came third in the four-year-olds and under and got first and equal second in the juvenile challenge. Excellent work Jess.
