Dis­cov­ery yacht takes shape

THE count­down is on for Scenic Eclipse’s world de­but in Athens next Au­gust.

Scenic founder and man­ag­ing direc­tor Glen Moroney said in­ter­est in the world’s first dis­cov­ery yacht had been high. Strong early sales had en­sured the first sail­ing from Athens to Venice, as well as sev­eral sub­se­quent de­par­tures, were sold out.

Scenic Eclipse is un­der con­struc­tion at Ul­janik Ship­yard JSC in Pula, Croa­tia.

With sev­eral Antarc­tic and Arc­tic itin­er­ar­ies planned for her in­au­gu­ral sea­son, Scenic Eclipse is be­ing built to com­ply with new In­ter­na­tional Mar­itime Or­gan­i­sa­tion Po­lar Code re­quire­ments.

The six-star ship will carry 228 guests.

As well as cruises to Antarc­tica and the Arc­tic Cir­cle, Scenic Eclipse will of­fer a se­ries of Mediter­ranean so­journs, as well as cruises to South Amer­ica and a se­ries of re­dis­cov­ery cruises rang­ing in length from five to 15 days.
