PCYC VACATION care started with a bang again in September with our Olympics Day on Monday.
Thirty-plus children had a great time competing with each other in running race events, including hurdles and relays.
It was a mighty hot day so ball games and other events were held in the main hall. It is always great to hear so much fun being had in the main hall.
Lots of prizes were handed out by the SAC staff and lots of tired and weary kids went home to their parents.
Day two was another fun-filled day with an excursion to the local BMX track. The BMX club keeps the track in great condition and I’m sure there are some excited new members in our lot from the enthusiasm shown.
Our PCYC bike education trailer with bikes, helmets and road signs came in very handy, giving every student the chance to participate!
Wednesday was a great surprise for our vacation care with a visit to the new Lake Callide Retreat. The children had a great time, however I’m not so sure if the snakes and baby crocs were overly impressed with them all!
Thanks Banana Shire Council for the sausages and day at the park.
Thursday was a hot one and the vacation care children had the best seat in the house… well, the coolest seat in the house at least, with a trip to the local pool finished off with an afternoon tea of snacks made by themselves earlier in the day.
Friday sure did separate the adventurous from the comfortable with a few little food challenges. Some were a little unsure of the very different flavours served up in our food challenge day while others showed a very odd flavour palate and finished the entire tin of liver pate – yuck!
Week two was another fantastic mix of activities for our vacation care children, with gladiator competitions and our excursion to the Gladstone Cinemas. So many children headed over we had to hire a second bus!
Our children have been in touch with their art and crafts side this week, learning macrame, beading, sewing and baking some very sweet treats.
Today a group will attend the Dream Time Cultural Centre in Rockhampton to finish off a wonderful holiday period. Thanks to all the children who have attended, your enthusiasm and involvement makes it a great experience every time.
