LNP is ‘the only credible party’
LNP candidate Colin Boyce was cheering for joy when he found out the election was called at the weekend.
“It was a relief to finally have an election date announced by Premier Palaszczuk. Labor have been in election campaign mode for months,” Mr Boyce said.
The married father of three has lived and worked in the Taroom district for more than 30 years.
“I was a councillor on the Taroom Shire Council prior to amalgamations,” he said.
“At Taroom I run a beef cattle and farming property.
“I am a qualified boilermaker and run a small engineering workshop with my two sons.”
Mr Boyce also has a background in other sectors.
“Recently I spent several years working in the gas industry as a pipe welder, in particular the CSG gas pipelines to Curtis Island,” he said.
“I have also worked for many years as an earthmoving contractor in mining, gas and agriculture.
“Off-farm income has been an integral part of me being able to purchase my own rural property and to build on this agricultural business.”
Standing for one of the major parties, Mr Boyce is confident LNP can move the region forward.
“Only the LNP has a plan for regional Queensland,” he said.
“Including our economic plan released this week, the LNP has so far released 58 positive policies for Queensland, which will create jobs, drive down the cost of living, support families, and foster safe and liveable communities.”
Mr Boyce said LNP would invest in some key projects.
“The LNP will invest in the roads, bridges and dams that Queensland needs to get moving again, and we will bring back our
$500 million Royalties for Regions program to ensure that regions get their fair share of wealth they create for our state.
“Callide is an economic powerhouse for the state.
“In coming weeks, the LNP will be announcing a number of fully-funded commitments for the people of Callide.”
With three weeks until the polls, Mr Boyce said he was not taking anything for granted.
“I have been out and about around Callide for four months talking to the locals and becoming familiar with the different communities and different issues,” he said.
“LNP is the only credible party that has a plan for regional Queensland and can actually deliver government.”
