The Eidsvold Bowls Club may be small in numbers, but they pulled out all stops to host one of their largest events of the year on Monday, August 20.

The one-day carnival was supported by long-time sponsor Ken Mills Toyota and 14 teams, many travelling from far and wide, were there to take part.

The Mundubbera, Biggenden, Durong, Taroom, Theodore and Monto clubs were all represented.

Former ladies president and Eidsvold member Jean Wedemeyer said it was rare to see so many visitors on their greens.

“That’s a very big day for us,” Mrs Wedemeyer said. “We’re quite weak. “We only have three teams and rely heavily on visitors.

“We’re only few in number in Eidsvold so all our neighbours sent teams to help us out.

“Our greens keeper is away in South Australia but the greens were looking great, despite the frosts.”

The Mundubbera Bowls Club provided the winning team on the day, marshalled by Barry Humphry.

Pat Darling, Barry and Jacob Wengel and Sharleen Prygoda of the Binjour club placed a close second.

On behalf of the Eidsvold club, Mrs Wedemeyer thanked all participants and sponsors for their generosity

during tough times.

“It’s great to see when people support local clubs,” she said.

“Everyone pulled together and it was an amazing effort from all involved.

“The support was absolutely fantastic, so many different clubs rallied around us.

“It helps us financially and it’s a nice social day for our members.”
