Theodore River Festival celebrations continue
THE Theodore River Festival launched last night with a local art exhibition and the celebrations are set to continue today.
The family-friendly event comprises a variety of activities and attractions spread over four days with the Saturday program expected to keep everybody busy.
Returning as an annual event last year, the River Festival is set on the Dawson River.
Event organiser and secretary Jess Stevens said the celebrations would continue today with a fun adventure out to Isla Gorge National Park.
“Today we have Sunset over the Sandstone at 3pm, which is a bus trip out to Isla Gorge National Park for the afternoon to enjoy the beautiful sunset,” she said.
“Later in the evening at 6pm there will be a Bullarama at Hotel Theodore, which is a family friendly night featuring a mechanical bull.”
Sunset over the Sandstone bus ride and nibbles costs $30 per person. Spots are limited.
Tomorrow’s River Festival program starts at 10am with a decorated bike competition, show and shine competition (cars and bikes), markets in the park, hourly river cruises and plenty of rides for the kids.
At 12pm the bar will open and the Lions Barbecue will be operating. There will be live music from local artists all day, as well as open mic hour from 1pm.
Tomorrow afternoon’s program will feature the river challenge at 2pm, with a cash prize for the winning team. The museum will also be open from 1-4pm.
The action continues into the evening with Eat Street Markets to operate from 5.30-8.30pm.
The Glow Run will begin at 6.15pm, followed by a tug-o-war competition at 7pm with a cash prize for the winning team.
Sunday will mark the end of the River Festival with Pilates in the Park from 8am. Cost is $15 per person and includes a light breakfast.
The day will conclude with a Long Lunch at 12pm, which is a three-course meal overlooking the Dawson River. Cost is $60 per person and tickets are available from Theo Home and Garden Cafe.
