NETBALL: The 2018 Netball season has officially come to an end.

Coach Tamara Moretti said it was a huge season for the Biloela Netball Association with many teams travelling every other weekend to attend carnivals and talent camps across the region.

“This year we saw our club grow, more teams signed up in each division and our Net Set Go program had its largest number of budding netballers start the game,” she said.

The grand finals were played on Tuesday, September 11, with eight teams hitting the court for the final time for the year.

“The players did not disappoint,” Ms Moretti said.

“Those who came to watch the games witnessed a great display of talent, sportsmanship and love for the game.

“The first game was BNA’s youngest division, Junior B Happy Jacks defeated Storm. The games continued with the Junior A Skittles defeating Phoenix, Open Mixed Chameleons defeated Team Kaos and lastly Open Ladies Renegades defeated How Bizzar.” The club held its annual presentation night at the Biloela Bike Club on Friday, September 14.

“It is an opportunity to thank players, volunteers, umpires, managers and our coaches for all the time and effort they have put into the netball season,” Ms Moretti said.

“Without these people stepping up into roles the kids simply wouldn’t have a game to play.”

She said the aim for this year’s presentation organisers was to involve as many people as they possibly could.

“We wanted everyone to come, from our seven-year-old Net Set Go kids to our Open players,” she said.

“The numbers doubled from previous years with a massive 230 players and members coming together and celebrating each other’s success.

“The ultimate aim, to inspire our youngest players, is to see a club that not only celebrates the kids that win the games, but an association that is welcoming, fun and thankful that you are a part of it.”

Ms Moretti said the night was relaxed and fun with games, lucky door prize and raffles and special guest appearance by Sue Gaudion (aka Jo Boothby) before the formal presentations.

“It was a great night for all of our members and the association members are already looking forward to the 2019 season,” she said.

“Thanks must go to Annette Hitchman (president) and Gay Fraser (vice president) who have stepped out of their roles this year. We thank them for their long-standing dedication for BNA.”

WINNERS: Renegades players Shae Maslen, Kate Hay, Kate Victor, Julie Maslen, Dani Maslen and Adele Acton.
