THIS weekend was the Closed Championships, two big days with 40-plus players each day. The 2018 A-Grade Gross Champion was Adam Mollis with a 46 hole total of 177, runner-up was Troy Lonsdale with 180 for the 46 holes. The 2018 B-Grade Gross Champion was Byron Hassall with a 46 hole total of 210, runner-up was Don Macklyn with 215 for the 46 holes. The 2018 C-Grade Gross Champion was Peter Moore with a 46 hole total of 233, runner-up was Murray Cameron with 264 for the 46 holes. Overall nett winner was Steve Dietrich with a 46-hole net score of 180.9 from Connor Cruice on 183.
Next Saturday will be a medley stableford and Sunday will be the September round of the Monthly 4BBB. SEPTEMBER 9 was a stableford for Donna Austin’s trophy – thanks Donna. The winner with a lovely score of 42 points was Denise Spillman followed by Tracey Green on 38 points. Pin shots were won by Val Garrett second on No.12 and Denise won the sponsored pin shot on No.2/16. September 16 was our monthly medal. The overall and division one winner was Rosie Plummer with 71 nett followed by Lynn Ritchie 73 and Donna Austin 74. Sue Thomas won division two with 77 nett. Pin shots were won by Donna third on No.1/15 and Val Garrett third on No.7. Least number of putts was Donna with 28. September 19 was a bogey for Karen Arrowsmith’s trophy – thanks Karen. The winner was Karen on +4 so she passed her trophy onto second place Tracey Green +3. Pin shots were won by Denise third on No.6 and Sue Thomas second on No.11.

A-grade champion was Casey Drochmann 169, runner-up Denise Spillman 174. B-grade champion Sue Thomas 190, runner-up Nicole Mills 193. Day one nett winner was Kathy Rideout with 67 nett. Day two nett winner was Sue Thomas with 67. Day one pin shots were Rosie on No.8, Casey second on No.12, Denise on No.2/16 and Sue on No.13. Accuracy drives went to Tracey Green (A) and Lynn Ritchie (B). Don’t forget the three-way meet on October 7 in Moura. LAST week 11 players played a 4BBB stableford and the winners were Syd Dunne and Pauline Lambert-Barker on a great score of 47 points, runners-up were Sandra Coughlin and Bevin Maller on 44 pts. Pin shots were No.2/11 P Lambert-Barker, No.4/14 Skinner, No.6/15, P Lambert-Barker.
On Sunday we will play an 18-hole bogey and please keep in mind the following week, October 7, we will play the three-way meet at Moura and it will be a 10am shotgun start. RESULTS from September 22 and 23:
In B singles, Clayton Boon played Wayne Marxson. After 10 ends Clayton lead eight shots to six and from there on took control of the game and recorded an impressive win by 25 shots to 10.
In B pairs, Rob Harvey and Clayton Boon played Matt Weeks and Greg Aldridge. A very tight game throughout as the score card showed, with Clayton and Rob winning 17 shots to 13 after 21 ends.
Six games of mixed pairs were played out in the semi-finals. In early games, Ali Goninan and Mike Blake won 22 shots to 11 against Judy and Lloyd Griffiths. Kerry Lock and Shane McCrohon won 26 shots to 13 against Colleen Howells and Wayne Marxson. Judy and Cameron McCrohon had to fight all the way to claim their win 18 shots to 13 against Di Atfield and Shaun Whitney. On Sunday morning, Ali Goninan and Mike Blake played Ian and Janet Hogan, with Ian and Janet coming away winners 24 shots to 13. The other Sunday morning game was Yvonne Geall and Rob Huggers playing Kerry Locke and Shane McCrohon. Kerry and Shane at one stage held a 15 shots to one lead and continued on for an impressive 25 shots to eight win and a place in the finals.
The game of the weekend being the second semi-final was between Judy and Cameron McCrohon against Janet and Ian Hogan. A nine shots to eight in favour of Judy and Cameron after nine ends and 19 shots to 10 lead after 15 ends. It looked like they would have a win but Janet and Ian had other ideas after 21 ends the score was 21–all. It came down to the last two bowls of the game; with Cameron holding shot, Janet was unable to move the shot bowls, thus giving Judy and Cameron a 23 shots to 21 win and a place in the finals.
