THIS week­end was the Closed Cham­pi­onships, two big days with 40-plus play­ers each day. The 2018 A-Grade Gross Cham­pion was Adam Mol­lis with a 46 hole to­tal of 177, run­ner-up was Troy Lons­dale with 180 for the 46 holes. The 2018 B-Grade Gross Cham­pion was By­ron Has­sall with a 46 hole to­tal of 210, run­ner-up was Don Mack­lyn with 215 for the 46 holes. The 2018 C-Grade Gross Cham­pion was Peter Moore with a 46 hole to­tal of 233, run­ner-up was Mur­ray Cameron with 264 for the 46 holes. Over­all nett win­ner was Steve Di­et­rich with a 46-hole net score of 180.9 from Con­nor Cruice on 183.

Next Satur­day will be a med­ley sta­ble­ford and Sun­day will be the Septem­ber round of the Monthly 4BBB. SEPTEM­BER 9 was a sta­ble­ford for Donna Austin’s tro­phy – thanks Donna. The win­ner with a lovely score of 42 points was Denise Spill­man fol­lowed by Tracey Green on 38 points. Pin shots were won by Val Gar­rett se­cond on No.12 and Denise won the spon­sored pin shot on No.2/16. Septem­ber 16 was our monthly medal. The over­all and divi­sion one win­ner was Rosie Plum­mer with 71 nett fol­lowed by Lynn Ritchie 73 and Donna Austin 74. Sue Thomas won divi­sion two with 77 nett. Pin shots were won by Donna third on No.1/15 and Val Gar­rett third on No.7. Least num­ber of putts was Donna with 28. Septem­ber 19 was a bo­gey for Karen Ar­row­smith’s tro­phy – thanks Karen. The win­ner was Karen on +4 so she passed her tro­phy onto se­cond place Tracey Green +3. Pin shots were won by Denise third on No.6 and Sue Thomas se­cond on No.11.

Our closed cham­pi­onships were held last week­end and we had good num­bers. A big thank you to our spon­sor, Ian Ho­gan at Flat Fil­ters. A-grade cham­pion was Casey Drochmann 169, run­ner-up Denise Spill­man 174. B-grade cham­pion Sue Thomas 190, run­ner-up Ni­cole Mills 193. Day one nett win­ner was Kathy Ride­out with 67 nett. Day two nett win­ner was Sue Thomas with 67. Day one pin shots were Rosie on No.8, Casey se­cond on No.12, Denise on No.2/16 and Sue on No.13. Ac­cu­racy drives went to Tracey Green (A) and Lynn Ritchie (B). Don’t for­get the three-way meet on Oc­to­ber 7 in Moura. LAST week 11 play­ers played a 4BBB sta­ble­ford and the win­ners were Syd Dunne and Pauline Lam­bert-Barker on a great score of 47 points, run­ners-up were San­dra Cough­lin and Bevin Maller on 44 pts. Pin shots were No.2/11 P Lam­bert-Barker, No.4/14 Skin­ner, No.6/15, P Lam­bert-Barker.

On Sun­day we will play an 18-hole bo­gey and please keep in mind the fol­low­ing week, Oc­to­ber 7, we will play the three-way meet at Moura and it will be a 10am shot­gun start. Un­til next time, good golf­ing. Thurs­day club: Last week we had a small field for the front nine and the win­ner on a good score of 20 pts was Pauline Lam­bert-Barker, the pin on No.2 was not won and there was no mem­ber­ship draw.


RE­SULTS from Septem­ber 22 and 23:

In B sin­gles, Clay­ton Boon played Wayne Marx­son. After 10 ends Clay­ton lead eight shots to six and from there on took con­trol of the game and recorded an im­pres­sive win by 25 shots to 10.

In B pairs, Rob Har­vey and Clay­ton Boon played Matt Weeks and Greg Aldridge. A very tight game through­out as the score card showed, with Clay­ton and Rob win­ning 17 shots to 13 after 21 ends.

Six games of mixed pairs were played out in the semi-fi­nals. In early games, Ali Gon­i­nan and Mike Blake won 22 shots to 11 against Judy and Lloyd Grif­fiths. Kerry Lock and Shane McCro­hon won 26 shots to 13 against Colleen How­ells and Wayne Marx­son. Judy and Cameron McCro­hon had to fight all the way to claim their win 18 shots to 13 against Di At­field and Shaun Whit­ney. On Sun­day morn­ing, Ali Gon­i­nan and Mike Blake played Ian and Janet Ho­gan, with Ian and Janet com­ing away win­ners 24 shots to 13. The other Sun­day morn­ing game was Yvonne Geall and Rob Hug­gers play­ing Kerry Locke and Shane McCro­hon. Kerry and Shane at one stage held a 15 shots to one lead and con­tin­ued on for an im­pres­sive 25 shots to eight win and a place in the fi­nals.

The game of the week­end be­ing the se­cond semi-fi­nal was be­tween Judy and Cameron McCro­hon against Janet and Ian Ho­gan. A nine shots to eight in favour of Judy and Cameron after nine ends and 19 shots to 10 lead after 15 ends. It looked like they would have a win but Janet and Ian had other ideas after 21 ends the score was 21–all. It came down to the last two bowls of the game; with Cameron hold­ing shot, Janet was un­able to move the shot bowls, thus giv­ing Judy and Cameron a 23 shots to 21 win and a place in the fi­nals.
