Stop and take in the vista

Central Telegraph - - NEWS | OPINION VOICES - Kristen Booth Kris

FOR years, I had been driving from Brisbane to Moranbah, straight through many of the little towns along the way. I would never stop though, because I was so focused on just getting to my destination as quickly as I could.

I have been through Biloela many times on my road trips to and from Central Queensland but not once did I stop to admire any of what it has to offer.

This week I have had the pleasure of working in this quaint little town and am pleasantly surprised by all it has.

Rather than just passing through on the highway, I had time to stop and explore.

The small shops and boutiques, the landmarks, Callide Dam and the beautiful countryside around it.

All this is only a short distance from the straight roads I would normally travel on. If I had of ventured just metres from my set trip, I would had seen it sooner.

If you are driving somewhere, or just travelling over the holidays, slow down and really appreciate the places you are travelling through.

Spend an hour having some lunch and exploring what is right in front of you, because you never know when you will stumble across a hidden gem.
