Police raid drug courier service, two charged
DRUG raids have put an end to a lucrative courier service between Chinchilla and Taroom.
The Chinchilla police raided a Sheridan St property on the morning of June 21, charging two men on drug offences.
The 21-year-old man charged with supplying drugs through a courier service to Taroom, had a 34-year-old accomplice at the scene, who was charged with possessing utensils for smoking cannabis.
Thanks to community tips and access to the courier company’s receipts, police were able to mount a case for a warrant.
The second raid, about an hour after the first, targeted a Back Ave property where police found 18 grams of cannabis and some methamphetamine (or “ice”).
A 24-year-old and a 26-year-old man were charged with possession, while a 21-year-old man was charged with possession of cannabis, meth, and supplying a dangerous drug.
Mobile phones were confiscated, and will be forensically examined in Dalby, which could lead to further charges. Police said an increase in detected ice users in the recent years was a growing concern.
