Sun­day So­cial – Thirty play­ers on the green play­ing for meat trays, spon­sored by Bowls Club. Win­ners – Bill Hobbs, Brian Lit­tleproud, Kathy Obst; R/u – Kath Mohr, Fuzzy McCullough, Peter Bell­grove. Even on points at the bell, Kathy’s team win­ning by 2 shots on a count­back.

Cham­pi­onships : Hand­i­cap sin­gles – Ger­ard Bell­grove (-12) def Peter O’Dea (+6) 31-17.

Chin­chilla the venue for the Cham­pion of Cham­pi­ons Fours Com­pe­ti­tion, with teams from Dalby, North Dalby, Jandowae, Ta­room, Tara and Chin­chilla do­ing bat­tle.

In the morn­ing matches, Dalby def Jandowae 33-11; Chin­chilla def Tara 32-8.

Down to the semi-fi­nals, North Dalby were too con­sis­tent for Dalby, scor­ing 12 shots in the first 6 ends to put them­selves in a strong po­si­tion to go into the fi­nal and fin­ished the game 26-16.

Chin­chilla were up against a young side from Ta­room in the other semi. Scores were even at 7-all and 8-all, ten ends to play, Chin­chilla scored 8 shots to 1 over the next 4 ends, up 16-9, and went on to win 21-16.

Fi­nal – Chin­chilla (Peter Jones, Garry Rear­don, Kings­ley Obst, Brian Turner), verses North Dalby (Woody Flynn, Wazza Kuss­row, Scott Roser, Ian Hickey).

What a game. Chin­chilla looked like win­ners from the out­set leading 7-0 from 3 ends, then 12-5 af­ter 8.

North Dalby dug in and came back to 12-13, Chin­chilla again stepped away to lead18-12, 6 ends to play.

North Dalby weren’t ready to go home yet, scor­ing a 2-4-1 to hit the front for the first time at 19-18, 3 ends left. Chin­chilla scored a 2, North Dalby a sin­gle to tie up a great match at 20-all, one end to play.

North Dalby were hold­ing 2 shots with Turner last bowl of the game and drew the ab­so­luter for the Cham­pi­onship for Chin­chilla to win 21-20, and the right to go to Goondi­windi for the Group 3 cham­pi­onships.

Ger­ard and Peter Bell­grove are at Jandowae this weekend for the COC A pairs.

They won this last year and are prov­ing to be a deadly com­bi­na­tion. Good luck boys.

This Sun­day is Cancer Aware­ness Day at Chin­chilla Bowls Club.

A char­ity af­ter­noon in aid of cancer – names by noon (2 bowlers and 2 non bowlers per team) or can be all non bowlers, play at 12.30pm.

Put in a team of 4 or just nom­i­nate in­di­vid­u­ally and the club will put you in teams.

Sun­day, July 6, there is an Open Pre­mier League One Day Car­ni­val at Chin­chilla.

Prize­money of $1200 is on of­fer, spon­sored by Giovenco In­dus­tries.

9.30am start, 5 rounds of 2 sets of 5 ends with a tiebreaker end if re­quired, one Pow­er­play per set, prize money paid to fourth as well as round win­ners.
