Grade rugby to visit
CHINCHILLA rugby fans won’t need to head to Brisbane for their Premier Grade fix with Roma’s Bassett Park set to host Norths and Brothers on July 5.
The teams will make a special fly-in visit to put on an action-packed game for locals.
Billed as Brisbane Rugby – Goes Bush, the competition game will see a star-studded line-up going into battle for what is expected to be a massive crowd of regional rugby supporters.
Brought to Roma through the assistance of the QRU, Brothers and Norths, the game will provide fans with not only a big day of rugby action, but also a full day of entertainment with loads of local music, fantastic food and plenty of free fun for kids.
Brothers and Norths players Luke Beauchamp and Bart Ritchie said both teams were excited about the prospect of putting on a good show of rugby in Roma – a place many of their players had never visited.
“It’s always interesting playing away games and this one in the bush would have to be the most away game we have ever had on our fixture list, but the whole team is really looking forward to it,” Brothers player Beauchamp said.
Norths’ Ritchie agreed, adding it would also provide a good opportunity to meet some of the local Echidna players coming up through the ranks.
The Roma Echidnas will also take on USQ on the day.
