AMONG the many changes afoot in the lead up to the 104th Chinchilla Show, has possibly been the most obvious; the appointment of a new Chinchilla Show Society secretary.

Rhonda Bruggemann took over the secretarial role from Chantahl Kelly earlier in the year and brought with her the desire to push promotion through social media and other online streams, as well as utilising the marketing tool of branding, with the show’s programs, website, poster flyers all echoing the same visual properties.

“We’ve found that having the program online has been really really popular,” Ms Bruggemann said.

“This is the first year that the program’s been online and that’s been really quite exciting for us to see it get 1200 odd hits. That’s mind-boggling for a lot of people that aren’t social media savvy.”

Much like in agricultural practice itself, the Ms Bruggemann wants Chinchilla Show to embrace new technologies to ensure its survival and success.

“[The Chinchilla Show] is about showcasing our rural background. And with that it doesn’t really matter what happens in a town, (the show will continue) showcasing our origins,” she said.

“Without the rural sector, none of the other sectors would survive.”

“It’s an opportunity to get together and celebrate.”

The Chinchilla Show begins tomorrow morning and runs until late on Saturday night with the Chinchilla Show Rodeo and other entertainment. The official Chinchilla Show program can be picked up from Chinchilla Casket and Newsagency or the secretary’s office at the Chinchilla Showgrounds, or can be downloaded from the show’s website on chin
