Magic Bean of Chinchilla’s coffee scene
A YEAR on from first opening its doors, the Purple Bean Cafe has a lot to celebrate.
Sarah Johnson has taken over ownership from BJ and Warren Erb who established the business as a successful meeting place, coffee shop, Christian bookshop and venue in the thriving Chinchilla restaurant and cafe scene.
“BJ had a vision for the cafe as a place where people could have a coffee, meet up with a friend and enjoy the selection of books,” Ms Johnson said.
“I would like to carry on with BJ’s vision (which also included) having some acoustic nights at the Bean.”
Among the exciting new changes at the Purple Bean has been the recent completion of renovations, the arcade being refurbished with booths, new tables and chairs, as well as a kids area for parents and bubs, and new flooring and air-conditioning.
The new extensions have meant the Bean can now hold functions, which they have already had for the Rotary Club and the Western Downs Community Church Ladies.
“The Purple Bean has welcomed people of all ages; we have children, families (and) older generation area ready to read.
“The Purple Bean would like to continue to provide gluten free, diary free and some nut free food options for those in the public that can not eat certain foods due to allergies.
“The meals at the bean are light meals to accompany a coffee or fresh smoothie.”
The Purple Bean is open from 5.30am-5pm Monday to Friday and 8am-1pm on Saturday.
The Purple Bean is located on 32 Middle St, Chinchilla, next to Your Pharmacy Chinchilla.
