BROOKE SHINES BRIGHT
MILES Miss Showgirl Brooke Geary said she is excited and honoured to be representing the South West Sub-Chamber at the Queensland Country Life Miss Showgirl competition after she wowed judges in Mitchell last week.
Ms Geary is bound for Brisbane after out-doing seven other Miss Showgirls from across the south west to be selected to represent the region at the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) in August.
The competition brings together representatives from 11 sub-chambers from across Queensland with one girl from each being chosen to attend state finals.
Ms Geary said her experience had been a fantastic opportunity to develop her confidence, public speaking and leadership skills, and that she was extremely proud to be representing her region.
“Our region is so diverse there is something for any visitor who comes to our region. I love that we have so much to offer and I am beyond proud to be able to promote such a beautiful, vibrant diverse and amazing region. We are such a large area but you never lose that sense of community,” she said.
Ms Geary, 22, said while she hoped to perform well in the next round she is just grateful for the opportunity to take part.
“I can't thank all the people involved enough for this opportunity, in particular the Miles and District Show Society, Mitchell Show Society and Queensland Country Life,” she said.
“I am going to the next level hopeful of doing very well but I am just honoured to have made it this far.
“So long as I represent the south-west region to the best of my ability and encourage others to visit our amazing area – I will consider that a win in itself.
“I would really encourage ladies to participate in the Miss Showgirl competition because it is great for personal development and is a networking opportunity not to be missed. I have loved my time in the competition so far and have made friends for life.”
