AgForce CSG to hold workshops
WESTERN Downs and Maranoa landholders wanting to learn more about the expansion of the CSG industry are encouraged to attend free workshops in Chinchilla and Roma next week.
AgForce CSG project leader Daniel Phipps said landholders attending the Advanced CSG Negotiation Support workshops would be updated on the Senex Energy expansion proposal, how a new Land Access Ombudsman will work, and the latest water impact assessments.
“Senex Energy recently applied to the Queensland Government to amend their Environmental Authority to expand their Western Surat Gas Project, including staged drilling of up to 425 wells, and up to three gas field compression and associated facilities,” he said.
“This application is an important reminder that the CSG industry will continue to expand across the Surat Basin region, with around 6000 production wells drilled so far and up to 20,000 required across the lifespan of the industry.
“It’s critical landholders remain aware of increasing industry activities, changes to groundwater predictions and what changes to legislation and government policies mean for them.”
“It’s all about ensuring landholders understand their rights and responsibilities so they can protect their properties, their businesses and their livelihoods.”
The workshops run from 9am to 1pm with the Roma workshop being held on Tuesday, August 29 and the Chinchilla workshop being held on Wednesday, August 30. While the workshops are free, registrations are essential.
