Sporting prodigy awarded
WOMEN’S Aussie rules prodigy Zimmorlei Farquharson has achieved one of the highest individual accolades of her youth career after being awarded the Troy Clarke Scholarship.
The scholarship is named after former Brisbane Lion Troy Clarke and is given to a regional junior footballer who displays dedication, passion and respect for the sport. The scholarship was established in 2014 and Zimmorlei, who plays for the Dalby Swans, is the first female recipient.
In 2017 Zimmorlei, 15, was named most valuable player and player of the championships at the Under 16 Queensland State Academy Championships, and All-Australian at the Under 15 School Girls National Championships.
In 2016 she was named co-captain of Queensland All-Nations at the National Diversity Championships.
