Champion title tops off stellar Cougars’ season
FOOTBALL: The Chinchilla Cougars Under-16s were crowned Champions of the Challenge Cup on Saturday after beating Kingaroy 2–1.
The Cougars finished top of the pack in a competition that included some very strong sides.
Dalby, Baramba and two sides from Kingaroy tried to stop the Cougars side that went through the competition unbeaten.
“The finish to the game was not good for my nerves but I think it was the right result on the balance of play,” coach Tim Taylor said.
“We controlled large portions of the game and apart from the penalty, our goalkeeper was virtually a spectator.
“We have had an amazing season winning the league and now being crowned Challenge Cup Champions is the icing on the cake.
“We have a special bunch of kids in this side that have worked extremely hard for each other.
“Today was a fantastic end to a perfect season.”
