Grand fi­nal clash

THE Chin­chilla River Rats will be play­ing for the club’s maiden premier­ship this week­end in Toowoomba.

The side goes up against mi­nor pre­miers, the Goondi­windi Emus, to de­cide this year’s Downs Rugby C-grade cham­pi­ons.

The River Rats will go into this game as the un­der­dogs, but they will be tak­ing plenty of con­fi­dence into the match after win­ning their pre­lim­i­nary fi­nal last week.

Kick-off is at 11.20am on Satur­day, at the Toowoomba Sports Ground.

Last stop for Cul­ture Train

THE highly ac­claimed Cul­ture Train will be wrap­ping up its tour of re­gional Queens­land on Satur­day, when it pulls into Chin­chilla for a show which is not to be missed.

As part of Queens­land’s mul­ti­cul­tural month, the train – which con­sists of per­form­ers from six dif­fer­ent coun­tries – will be en­ter­tain­ing the crowd at the Chin­chilla Cul­tural Cen­tre.

There will be a lo­cal flavour to the per­for­mance as well, with the Chin­chilla Con­cert Band in­vited to per­form at the event. Ad­mis­sion is free. The con­cert starts at 6pm Satur­day.

Com­mu­nity meet­ing

ALL in­ter­ested mem­bers of the com­mu­nity have been in­vited to at­tend the Chin­chilla RSL Memo­rial Club this evening to dis­cuss its fu­ture.

The meet­ing has been or­gan­ised to let peo­ple know the sta­tus of the club, and the di­rec­tion it will be tak­ing mov­ing for­ward.

The meet­ing will start at 7pm at the club on Heeney St.

Polocrosse cham­pi­onships

80 TEAMS and more than 500 play­ers are ex­pected to con­verge on Chin­chilla this week­end for the Polocrosse State Cham­pi­onships.

The event will start to­mor­row with the fi­nals be­ing held on Sun­day.

All com­peti­tors will have a grand pa­rade on Satur­day at 11am at the Chin­chilla Polocrosse Club on Race­course Rd.

Lions Movie Night

THE Lions Ladies are host­ing the pre­miere of The Big Sick at Chin­chilla Cinema tonight at 6pm.

Tick­ets are avail­able at the door for $20, which in­cludes pre-movie nib­blies.

The Big Sick is a ro­man­tic com­edy and is set to de­liver plenty of laughs.
