5 THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND THE REGION
Grand final clash
THE Chinchilla River Rats will be playing for the club’s maiden premiership this weekend in Toowoomba.
The side goes up against minor premiers, the Goondiwindi Emus, to decide this year’s Downs Rugby C-grade champions.
The River Rats will go into this game as the underdogs, but they will be taking plenty of confidence into the match after winning their preliminary final last week.
Kick-off is at 11.20am on Saturday, at the Toowoomba Sports Ground.
Last stop for Culture Train
THE highly acclaimed Culture Train will be wrapping up its tour of regional Queensland on Saturday, when it pulls into Chinchilla for a show which is not to be missed.
As part of Queensland’s multicultural month, the train – which consists of performers from six different countries – will be entertaining the crowd at the Chinchilla Cultural Centre.
There will be a local flavour to the performance as well, with the Chinchilla Concert Band invited to perform at the event. Admission is free. The concert starts at 6pm Saturday.
ALL interested members of the community have been invited to attend the Chinchilla RSL Memorial Club this evening to discuss its future.
The meeting has been organised to let people know the status of the club, and the direction it will be taking moving forward.
The meeting will start at 7pm at the club on Heeney St.
80 TEAMS and more than 500 players are expected to converge on Chinchilla this weekend for the Polocrosse State Championships.
The event will start tomorrow with the finals being held on Sunday.
All competitors will have a grand parade on Saturday at 11am at the Chinchilla Polocrosse Club on Racecourse Rd.
