A day at the races in Wan­doan

HORSE RAC­ING: Race-go­ers from near and far con­verged on Wan­doan for a day at the track.

Wan­doan Dig­gers Race Club sec­re­tary Ma­jella Er­bacher said over­all it was an ex­cel­lent race day.

“We got off to a shaky start, two horses broke through the bar­ri­ers in the first race,” Er­bacher said.

“Af­ter that, whether the front gates got a bit touchy af­ter that, we had to be very care­ful but we got through the rest of it with no prob­lems.”

Jockey Ja­son Hoop­ert rid­ing Coal­bank Caviar took out the first race, while Adin Thomp­son on Ty­coon Zip snatched the win in race two.

Cock­tail­sal­laround jock­eyed by Ce­cily Ea­ton dashed to vic­tory for race three, while race four was claimed by Michael Schrapel on Bondi Bat­tle.

The last race of the day was won by jockey Natalie Mor­ton on San Vin­cenzo.
