Chef goes back to his roots

THIS se­ries tracks chef Luke Nguyen’s life and ca­reer from when it all started in Syd­ney, mov­ing to Queens­land, Saigon and then on to Hong Kong.

Through­out the se­ries Luke (pic­tured) is joined by close friends, lo­cal chefs and, of course, his fam­ily who play such a large part in this life. Along the way he vis­its fish mar­kets and food pro­duc­ers, cook­ing some de­li­cious Viet­namese dishes.

This week, Luke com­pletes his visit to Bris­bane and heads to Saigon where he spends time with his fam­ily.

He vis­its his mum and aunty in the Hoc Mon district of Ho Chi Minh City be­fore cook­ing a tra­di­tional feast to present as an of­fer­ing to his grand­fa­ther’s grave, a sig­nif­i­cant day with his im­me­di­ate fam­ily.
