Riders sad­dle up in Balonne

Spec­ta­tors en­joy ASH chal­lenge in St Ge­orge

CAMPDRAFT: St Ge­orge played host to a suc­cess­ful Balonne Branch Aus­tralian Stock Horse Show and Campdraft last week­end.

Riders trav­elled in from across the south­west for the event, com­ing from Roma, Charleville and the Western Downs.

St Ge­orge lo­cals lead the field, with An­drew Tur­vey and the tal­ented Ruby win­ning both the maiden and novice.

Two blue rib­bons also went to the McIn­tosh fam­ily – Bec McIn­tosh won the ladies af­ter a run-off with Katie Bir­ney, while her son, Char­lie, won his first ju­nior draft.

Belinda Gor­don was awarded the open chal­lenge on Glen­ray Fash­ion.

Kylie McPhee placed sec­ond and took out cham­pion work­ing ASH.

Melissa South­ern won the ju­nior horse and cham­pion ASH hack on two of her mares.

Ge­orge Speedy also had a a great week­end, tak­ing out the ju­nior chal­lenge as well as a num­ber of other events.

The com­mit­tee thanked all vol­un­teers and spon­sors for their help at the event, say­ing the day ran smoothly.
