Riders saddle up in Balonne
Spectators enjoy ASH challenge in St George
CAMPDRAFT: St George played host to a successful Balonne Branch Australian Stock Horse Show and Campdraft last weekend.
Riders travelled in from across the southwest for the event, coming from Roma, Charleville and the Western Downs.
St George locals lead the field, with Andrew Turvey and the talented Ruby winning both the maiden and novice.
Two blue ribbons also went to the McIntosh family – Bec McIntosh won the ladies after a run-off with Katie Birney, while her son, Charlie, won his first junior draft.
Belinda Gordon was awarded the open challenge on Glenray Fashion.
Kylie McPhee placed second and took out champion working ASH.
Melissa Southern won the junior horse and champion ASH hack on two of her mares.
George Speedy also had a a great weekend, taking out the junior challenge as well as a number of other events.
The committee thanked all volunteers and sponsors for their help at the event, saying the day ran smoothly.
