Busy getting ready for the big annual charity auction
AT OUR last meeting, we conducted our annual elections night and long serving Lion Bruce Wedrat was elected president.
Isabel Stuart will become our new secretary, Lindsay Marsden is assistant secretary and Tony Minnis continues as treasurer. Doug McNally is our membership chairman.
Tonight, we will be welcoming visiting Lions and Lionesses from Cecil Plains, Dalby, Jandowae and Tara, the occasion being the official visit of our zone chairman Lion Glenn Shipway from Dalby.
Glenn is well known to many Chinchilla locals, having served here in the court house early in his career. We are looking forward to a very social and friendly meeting.
This coming weekend, it will be all hands on deck preparing goods for sale at our annual charity auction on April 21. Refer to our advertisement in the classified section, which itemises the goods going up for auction.
To facilitate greater display and safe storage, we are holding our auction in the James Evans Pavilion at the showgrounds. There will be plenty of parking and, as you will see from our advertisement, this year’s offering includes collectables and even antiques. We thank the Show Committee for allowing the us the use of its facilities for the auction.
All the action is at the Showgrounds on Saturday, April 21, with bidder registration open at 8am. Drinks and refreshments will also be available on the day and please remember, all proceeds – with the exception of the advertising costs – are utilised for local and national humanitarian purposes and causes.
’Til next week, take care, stay safe and remember if you would like to find out what Lions do in the community, call Lindsay on 0427 656 201 and have a coffee and a chat or join us for dinner.
Remember, where there’s a need, there’s a Lion.
