You can’t scrimp on the prepa­ra­tion work when it comes to race cars, es­pe­cially not with a build of this cal­i­bre. Laki dis­patched the South African shell to HT Rac­ing and much cus­tom fab­ri­ca­tion com­menced.

The in­te­rior is as neat and clean as you’d ex­pect from this in­cred­i­ble build.

Simp­son man­i­fold gets rid of the Millington’s gases.

Ex­ten­sive floor and rear bulk­head mods were made to suit the fully ad­justable rear-end sus­pen­sion links.

A bolt-in roll cage would have suf­ficed, but this cus­tom weld-in ver­sion adds far more chas­sis stiff­ness.

The en­larged gear­box tun­nel al­lows fit­ment of ei­ther a Borg Warn­erT5 or a race-spec se­quen­tial ‘box.

The arch ex­ten­sions were cus­tom made to suit the 10.5-inch wide Im­age split-rims. Off-the-shelf items were too nar­row.

Roll cage dom­i­nates the stripped-out in­te­rior.

Top-notch re­mote reser­voir Proflex dampers in­stalled.

ZF diff lives in­side the prop­erly-built At­las axle.

Cus­tom gauges now live in­side the Mk2’s dash clus­ter.

Sim­ple but ef­fec­tive al­loy panel houses ex­tra switches.

Oil tank now lives in boot to keep tem­per­a­tures at bay...
