THE DEVIL’S IN THE DETAIL

Classic Ford - - MK1 ESCORT -

“People often say that assembly is the best part,” says Chris. “You certainly get to see where your money goes!” Having paid such attention to the flawless finish of the body and paint, it was necessary to renew all of the ancillaries and accessories in order for the Escort not to look half-done. New paint requires new chrome, and the 1300E’s trademark satin black rear panel would have looked odd without new hockey sticks and boot trim. And then there’s all the window trim, handles, wipers, glass, dash switches, light lenses, interior wood, bumpers — once you start perfecting, it’s hard to know when to stop. The relentless attention to detail is what made Chris’s Escort one of the stars of our Great Unveiling.
