Se­ri­ous rust is com­mon in the sills, floor­pan, strut tops, where the in­ner and outer wings meet, bulk­head, A-pil­lars, rear spring hang­ers, tail­gate hinges and the front panel. More vis­i­ble grot is likely on the front wings, rear arches, doors and scuttle. Gen­uine NOS pan­els are ex­pen­sive — £600 for a wing — but pat­tern items and re­pair sec­tions are avail­able. Be aware though that it’s get­ting harder to find re­place­ment bon­nets, driver’s doors and front pan­els. Re­pro­duc­tion de­cals are avail­able and they’re a com­mon tell­tale of a car that’s seen work, many own­ers in­cor­rectly lin­ing them up on the swage line. Re­pro­duc­tion plas­tic door mir­rors and bumpers are read­ily avail­able.
