Slough (UK)

Classic Ford - - TOP TWENTY -

This dedicated site, hidden away in the sprawling industrial park at Slough a few miles west of Heathrow Airport, was the home of Ford Advanced Vehicles, where the GT40 was engineered, developed for racing, and in which up to 100 GT40 customer cars were built. As with the RS200, no manufacturing, merely assembly, took place, with chassis coming from Arch Motors, shells from suppliers, engines from the USA, and transmissions from ZF in Germany. After 1969, the operation was closed down.
