Valencia (Spain)
Ford spent ages looking for a new site to build the original Fiesta model, finally settling on a new factory near Valencia, in Spain, which was launched in 1976. Not only bodyshell, but engine manufacture was carried out there. As best-sellers, Fiestas were also built in Dagenham, and also at Saarlouis in Germany. Faster/hotter/more specialised Fiestas (including the sporty RS types) were made in more than one of these sites. Like other Ford plants, Valencia was soon full of cars, but expanded to build Escorts and Focuses, too.
