Next year sees the annual Classic Ford Tour celebrate its 20th anniversary, which bar one or two exceptions, always involves a ferry across The Channel to mainland Europe. With only a long weekend to play with, the furthest we’ve been is the middle of Germany, but that doesn’t matter. What does is that it’s helped open our eyes to a whole world of classic Fords that are, well, the same but different. Whether its Taunusbadged Cortinas or two-door Granada Coupes from Europe, or Cortina and Escort Bakkies from South Africa, we love these export models, and we know you do too, which is why we’re seeing more and more at the UK shows in recent years, imported by their enthusiastic owners.
So this edition’s got a definite global bias to it, with feature cars from Germany, the USA and Australia, as well as the UK, of course, including Mickey Stewart’s eye-popping RS2000 which along with four other cars in The Great Unveiling stole the show at the Classic Ford Show back in June.
