I know that I’ve previously mentioned the importance of buying quality tools, but a recent incident reminded me of this fact when we recently changed the wheels on my son’s car. He’d previously been to a fast-fit establishment near Bournemouth to have a puncture repaired. The depot must have whacked the wheel nuts on with a monster airgun, as we really struggled to budge them. In fact, one (nonpremium) socket split. Fortunately, I was wearing work gloves and escaped injury. Somewhat chastened, I swapped to using my Draper Expert socket set, which I should have done in the first place. Pressure (lots of it) was applied, the socket gripped securely, and off came the nut. And so did all the others. Quality counts!
